Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Doubbit.com (“Doubbit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about you when you access or use our websites, mobile experiences, APIs, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service. Operator: Doubbit.com. Contact: privacy@doubbit.com and support@doubbit.com.

Information we collect. Account and profile data (name/alias, email, hashed password, photo/avatar, bio, settings, preferences); content you submit (questions, answers, posts, comments, votes, messages, attachments, and related metadata, often public by default); transactional data (order details for purchases; payments handled by third-party processors—we do not store full card numbers); usage and device data (IP address, approximate location from IP, device identifiers, browser/OS, language, pages viewed, links clicked, timestamps, referrers); cookies and similar technologies (cookies, local storage, pixels for authentication, security, analytics, and advertising/measurement); communications (messages you send us and our replies); optional social/SSO sign-in (profile/auth info as permitted by that service). Children: The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent where applicable); we do not knowingly collect personal information from such users; please contact us to request deletion if you believe a child has provided personal data.

How we use information. We use information to provide, secure, and maintain the Service (including account creation, authentication, moderation, and abuse prevention); publish and distribute user-generated content and enable community features (votes, follows, comments); personalize content, recommendations, and user experience; measure performance, conduct analytics, debug, and improve the Service; communicate with you (updates, support, security alerts, and—where permitted—marketing); comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms. EU/UK legal bases (where applicable): performance of a contract, legitimate interests (e.g., to secure and improve the Service), consent (e.g., certain cookies/marketing), and legal obligations.

How we share information. We may share information with service providers and processors (hosting, storage, security, analytics, communications, payment processing, customer support) under appropriate contracts; advertising and measurement partners; affiliates (companies under common ownership/control) consistent with this Policy; other users/the public when you publish content that is public by design; legal and safety recipients to comply with law, enforce Terms, or protect rights, safety, and property; and in business transfers as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets with continued protections. We do not sell your personal information for money; in some jurisdictions, sharing for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising may be deemed a “sale” or “share.” See Your Privacy Rights below.

Advertising, analytics, and cookies. We use analytics to understand usage and quality, and where applicable ad tech to measure and deliver ads; these may set or read cookies and similar technologies. Your choices: manage cookies in your browser and OS settings; use site controls such as a cookie banner or preferences center where available; in certain regions, use our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link; opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link (transactional emails will still be sent).

Your privacy choices and controls. You can access, correct, or delete certain data via account settings and can request account/content deletion (subject to legal/safety retention). Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing. You can opt out of marketing emails via unsubscribe. Cookie choices can be managed via browser settings and any site-level preferences we provide. Remember that content you post may be public and indexed by search engines.

Region-specific rights (U.S. states). Residents of certain U.S. states (e.g., California (CPRA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Delaware) may have rights to know/access, correct, delete, portability, and to opt out of processing for targeted advertising, “sale” (broadly defined), or profiling in furtherance of decisions with legal/similar effects. California notices: We disclose CPRA categories we collect (identifiers, internet activity, approximate geolocation, inferences, etc.) for described purposes to service providers and, where applicable, advertising/analytics partners; we do not collect “sensitive personal information” for inferring characteristics. Opt-out controls: use our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link and/or cookie preferences. Authorized agent/verification: we may verify your request and an agent’s authority. Appeals: where required, you may appeal a decision on your privacy request. To exercise rights, contact privacy@doubbit.com or use available self-serve tools; we will not discriminate for exercising rights.

EU/UK GDPR. Where GDPR applies, you have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, portability, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. For processing based on legitimate interests, you can object; for direct marketing, you can opt out at any time. Controller: Doubbit, Inc. EU/UK representatives / DPO: [Insert, if applicable]. International transfers: We rely on mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and implement appropriate safeguards; you may request a copy of relevant transfer safeguards.

Canada and Australia (overview). Canada (PIPEDA): you may request access and correction; we obtain consent where required and process for reasonable purposes. Australia: we handle personal information in line with applicable privacy principles; you may request access and correction and lodge complaints with the OAIC.

Data retention. We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes in this Policy, to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and context; where feasible, we anonymize or aggregate data.

Security. We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; you use the Service at your own risk. Please protect your credentials and notify us of suspected misuse.

International data transfers. Your information may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. These locations may have data protection laws different from your country of residence; we use appropriate safeguards as described above.

Third-party links and services. The Service may link to or integrate third-party sites, apps, or services; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Review those policies—we are not responsible for third-party practices.

User-generated content (public nature). Content you publish may be public and search-indexable. Avoid posting personal information you would not want publicly available; copies may persist in cached/archived pages or by other users.

Changes to this Policy. We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where required, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
